Hydrology of culturally significant sites

Hydrological studies of Polynesian heritage sites, in collaboration with specialists in archaeology, ethnology and anthropology.

Skills

  • Identification and characterisation of freshwater sources
  • Study of surface and subsurface flow
  • Proposal of drainage or restoration/development solutions respectful of heritage
  • Contribution to the sustainable enhancement of the site

We sometimes carry out hydrological studies at sites of major importance to Polynesian culture, whether on account of the archaeological remains they contain (marae, paepae) or the myths and legends associated with them. These sites may be listed or designated (UNESCO World Heritage, classified or protected sites, etc.).

When necessary, we collaborate with specialists in archaeology, ethnology and/or anthropology to conduct the hydrological study essential to the drainage of the site and the rehabilitation of traditional water sources, paying particular attention to respecting the sacred character of the site.
